PUT THE NUMBERS IN CONTEXT
What happens to your purchasing power?
A pay rise and a price rise can happen at the same time. Explore how the two interact.
How it works
Real change = (1 + pay change) ÷ (1 + price change) − 1. The calculation compares purchasing power over one year using the assumptions you enter. It does not include taxes, changes in hours, or changes in a household’s spending mix.
The starting pay rise is a hypothetical example. The default 3.7% price change matches the September 2026 CPI-U increase from a year earlier; it is not a forecast. You can replace both figures.
